2026年新年のご挨拶

明けましておめでとうございます。
旧年中は多くのご縁とご支援を賜り、誠にありがとうございました。

2025年は、三重県菰野町で開催されたアートイベント「菰山展」への参加から始まりました。写真という、いわば「薄い紙切れ」を、〈自然素材〉という共通テーマの中でどう扱うことができるのか。土地とどのように呼吸を交わし、関係を結び直せるのか。写真と場所の関係をあらためて考える、重要な機会となりました。
菰山展の関係者の皆さま、特に佐野さんをはじめとする運営の皆さまに、心より感謝申し上げます。

また、gallery0369でこれまで2度展示を開催した河田真智子さんが、さがみはら新人奨励賞を受賞されました。昨年の授賞式にも立ち会わせていただき、作家の歩みを間近で共有できたことを嬉しく思っています。

所長を務める写真好学研究所では、第2期研究生による成果展を三重県立美術館・県民ギャラリーにて開催しました。多くの方に足を運んでいただき、研究生たちにとっても今後の活動へとつながる確かな経験になったと感じています。

そして、三重県津市美里町で2016年に開設した写真専門ギャラリー gallery0369 は、おかげさまで9周年を迎えました。現在、年末年始恒例となっている松原豊写真展「村の記憶／まえとあと＋＋＋＋」を開催中です。
「＋」はいつまで加算されるのか、あるいはいつか「−」が加えられるのか。未だ未知数ではありますが、ホームグラウンドで七転八倒しながら、展示を続けていきたいと考えています。

松原豊が運営する Labo0369 のアナログ暗室を使用し、8×10インチ大型カメラによる撮影・現像・プリントまでを体験するワークショップです。写すこと、写ることを身体で感じる。スマートフォンしか触ったことのない方にも、ぜひ体験していただきたい内容です。未経験の方も、松原がアシスタントとして丁寧にフォローします。
隣接する古民家 Hibicore に宿泊も可能です。囲炉裏を囲みながら、写真についてゆっくり語らう時間も楽しんでいただければと思います。

新年早々、さまざまなご案内となりました。
2026年も、三重県津市美里町の里山を拠点に、写真に関わる活動を継続してまいります。

2026 New Year Message｜Highlights of 2025 & Updates

Happy New Year, and thank you sincerely for your continued support throughout the past year.

My year of 2025 began with participating in Kozanten, an art event held in Komono, Mie. Under the shared theme of “natural materials,” I reconsidered how a photograph—something as thin and fragile as a sheet of paper—can be treated and presented. How can a photograph breathe with a place, and how might it reconnect with the land? It became an important opportunity to reexamine the relationship between photography and location.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in Kozanten, especially Mr. Sano and the organizing team.

I am also happy to share that Machiko Kawada—whose exhibitions were held twice at gallery0369—received the Sagamihara Newcomer Encouragement Award. I attended the ceremony last year, and it was a privilege to witness her journey closely.

As director of Shashin Kogaku Kenkyujo (Photo Studies Research Institute), I also had the opportunity to present the final exhibition of our second cohort at the Mie Prefectural Art Museum (Citizen’s Gallery). I am grateful to everyone who visited and supported the students—this experience will become a solid foundation for their future work.

Together with Mr. Nakazawa of PHOTO GALLERY FLOW NAGOYA, I continued our YouTube series, Nagareru Kaiwa (“Flowing Conversations — Notes on Photography”). We also streamed a year-end live session from gallery0369.

gallery0369—the photography gallery I opened in Misato, Tsu City (Mie) in 2016—reached its 9th anniversary. We are currently hosting my year-end and New Year exhibition, Muranokioku / Village Memories / Before and After ++++. How long will the “+” continue to accumulate? Will a “−” someday be added? I do not know yet—but I will keep exhibiting, struggling, learning, and persisting on my home ground.

Portraits with an 8×10 Large-Format Camera — A day in Tsu

Date: Sat, Jan 17, 2026 (all day) + Sun, Jan 18 (morning)

Using the analog darkroom at Labo0369, participants will create monochrome portraits with an 8×10 large-format camera—from shooting to film development and printing. Beginners are very welcome, and I will support you throughout the process. Accommodation is also available at the nearby traditional house, Hibicore. I hope we can share quiet time around the irori hearth and talk about photography.

As the new year begins, I find myself sharing many updates at once.
In 2026, I will continue my photography-related activities from the satoyama landscape of Misato, Tsu City, Mie.
